St. Edward School also includes a broad range of athletic programs created to help students realize their talents and to teach good sportsmanship at the elementary and junior high school level. Technology is becoming ever more prevalent in our society and because of that, we use technology to enrich the classroom curriculum, and also to teach computer literacy, online safety and security, manners, cyber citizenship, & the hazards of cyberbullying.
Boys and girls basketball is open to students in grades 5th through 8th and generally begins during the month of September. Be sure to come out and support both your boy and girl Jaugars!

Cross country is open to any 5th through 8th grader. We start practicing right before school starts at the end of summer. At our meets we run a 2 mile course.

The girls Volleyball Program is open to female students in 5th though 8th grades. The program generally begins in the winter starting after Christmas break and runs through March.

Jaguar Cheerleading is open to any 7th or 8th grade female student. The Cheerleaders perform at all home 8th grade boys basketball games. Our season begins in September and usually runs through January. Help show school spirit by joining the Jaguar Cheerleading Squad.

Students in grades three through eight are invited to join Junior Choir. The choir sings at 4:30 Mass once a month (usually on the third Saturday) during the school year (Sept.-May). Practice is held from 2:30-3:00 on Thursdays in the church. The choir is led by Mary Delgado.
FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) was founded by inventor Dean Kamen with the intention to “…create a world where science and technology are celebrated…where young people dream of becoming science and technology heroes.” FIRST LEGO League uses the LEGO NXT system to allow teams comprised of 5th-8th grade students to build and program a robot to complete specified tasks related to a given year’s theme. In addition, the teams are scored on their robot’s design, on how they work as a team and display professional values, and on a 5 minute presentation given on a specified research project. For Fall 2011, the theme revolves around food safety.
The season started in September and the 2011 Peoria regional tournament will be December 10th.
Coaches for 2011 are Matt Kiser and Daniel Stanek.
Student Council is a school service based organization open to allstudents 5th-8th. There are four officers - President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer . . . along with 3 classroom Representatives from the 5th-8th grades.
Student Council advisers are Miss. Henry, Mrs. Miars and Mrs. Huber.
Scholastic Bowl is open to 6th through 8th graders who would like to have some fun with all that they have learned over the years. Topics include Algebra, Literature, Sports, Mythology, Geography and many more. Practice usually starts in December.
Currently led by JoAnne Schneider.
Lead by Miss Bestsy Carlson, our Fifth Grade teacher. Open to 5th - 8th graders.
